Fashion Games are Fun

Before we explore the link between free dress up games and a person’s fashion sense, it is good to understand where does a person’s fashion sense truly come from? Why do people dress differently in the first place?

When we are first born, we can’t choose (well, not much at least) what to wear; our parents dress us up for us. When we get a little older, we can exercise a bit more choice when at the department store or at Christmas, and our parents begin to decide how much they’d like to listen to you, and how much they’d like to listen to themselves. Do babies have a fashion sense? Probably. Some girls might like to wear blue, and some boys pink, but their parents will often say otherwise, and it’s doubtful if a baby really knows what it wants in the world around it in any case.

By the time you’re a teenager, though, you already have all kinds of habits, customs, tastes and preferences based on how you were raised, how much money you have, your gender, your body shape, your self-confidence, your creativity and a million other things. For the bright-eyed young girl, the world might be a beautiful open expanse, replete with possibilities – but in all likelihood she will dress at least in part based on what her peers are wearing. Peer pressure is extremely powerful and girls will judge themselves and their friends depending on what they wear.

How much of Gucci’s popularity is due to girls really, truly loving its styles? Would you buy a Louis Vuitton bag if they weren’t so popular with rich girls? Creating your own clothes is very hard, so naturally we all have to go to the mall so we don’t end up walking the streets naked. But are the shirts, dresses and scarves on the shelves really what we’d want to wear if we had the choice?

Every person in the world, regardless of what anyone may say or think otherwise, has a fashion. They have a style. You do, too: when you were little, you played dress-up games with dolls and Barbies and became attuned to your own psychic tastes and impulses. It would be nicer if everyone could truly express themselves and their desired styles in real life, but often, other girls won’t think the same way you do and it can be hurtful to get negative attention or judgment from others based on what you wear.

Fortunately, we live in interesting times. Today, all a girl has to do – to enter a virtual reality, where she can play dress-up, create her own clothes and hone her fashion to her heart’s content is enter “dress up games” or “hairdresser games” into Google. So convenient! The games come in a bewildering array of themes and styles and there exists at least one for every possible outfit you could ever think of. Winter, summer, formal and romantic: for every occasion, there’s a Flash-based persuasion. The formula is simple, too! Just drag and drop your favorite pieces onto the doll at your discretion entirely. There is no age requirement; you don’t have to pay anything and the sheer amount of possibilities will melt your brain – you’ll end up being very disappointed with the Banana Republic’s lines compared to those you’ve created a hundred times at home!
